Özet
In this study, skid resistance of surface coatings produced with different aggregate and aggregate gradations was investigated. To do so, Limestone, basalt, boulder, electrical furnace steel slags, and ferrochrome slag were supplied. The aggregate gradation used for production chip seal samples were ranging from 19 to 2 mm, and Type I, II and III were used for manufacturing of slurry seal samples. Physico-mechanical and chemical properties of each aggregate were determined with series of standard tests. For chip seal production, 70/100 penetrating grade bitumen modified with adjuvant, DOP, and for slurry seal production cationic emulsion (CRS-2) were used. To measure the skid resistance of samples, British Pendulum tester was implemented according to ASTM E 303. It was concluded that skid resistance performance of surface coatings manufactured with by-products are higher than those produced with natural aggregates. In addition, the skid resistance performances change depending on aggregate grading sizes and gradation. © 2017 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
