Özet

In this study, macro texture depth of chip seal were evaluated with Sand Patch (SP) and Outflow Meter (OFM) tests methods. The samples were manufactured according to different types of aggregates (natural and artificially occurred) and chip sizes. The aggregate gradation sizes that in seven single-size (19–2 mm) were used for production the samples. Limestone, basalt, boulder, steel slag, and ferrochrome slag were supplied from southern region provinces of Turkey. For production the samples, 70/100 penetration grade modified was utilized. Certain properties of aggregates and bitumen were determined with series of tests. Were conducted for macro texture depth determination. The study has shown that macro texture depth relative differences between SP and OFM ranges from 10.4% to 36.6% for chip seal samples and coefficient of regression is computed as 0.91. Moreover, 6 mm mean texture depth can be identified as a threshold for implementation of OFM test method. © 2017 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
