Gender is to define and distinguish material bodies culturally encoded by biology through imposing spiritual meanings on them; and to consubstantiate men and women by way of feminine and masculine roles and statuses. This distinction plays a leading role in the emergence of many inequalities against women. The introduction of women to working life in its modern meaning at present comes across the end of the 18th century. The working life of women in our country varies according to the level of education. Women with a high level of education tend to have high-status jobs which are considered suitable to their gender. As is the case in many areas of public life, women's involvement in the field of education and scientific production has also been realized step by step with the struggles that have been spreading many years. In this study, women's entrance to the universities that have Mining Engineering faculties in Turkey as academicians, their academic career processes and the conditions of obtaining a place in the academy in Mining Engineering Departments, which are especially identified as male-dominant, were investigated by taking advantage of national and international literature. In this context, dispersion on the basis of universities was firstly given for women and men academicians at 28 universities that have already had Mining Engineering departments in Turkey. Subsequently, the distribution of female academicians on the basis of title, followed by gender-based ratios of these data were given. The main aim of the study is to propose solutions based on inequality in female/male ratios by examining where women academicians in the academy are and their roles in the academy.
