Öğe ANALYSIS OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENT MOBILITY FROM TURKEY VIA ERASMUS+ PROGRAM(2018) Gündüz, Fatma FeyzaThe purpose of this study is to explain the factors affecting the student flow from Turkey to different countries which takes place by means of Erasmus+ program in 2015 with the gravity model. The variables reflecting the economical size of the countries and the variable representing the distance between Turkey and the country visited were added to the gravity model formed and the statistical significance of the model was tested. Moreover, at which level the student potential which wanted to have an education with Erasmus+ was affected by the quality of the visited country’s universities, visited country’s having a Mediterranean climate, its foreign language’s being English and its being an OECD country were analyzed as dummy variables.Öğe China’s Diplomacy and Intensifying Geopolitical Tensions in Neighboring Nations(Taylor and Francis, 2024) Gündüz, Fatma Feyza; Deo, ShilpaChina is seen as both a land of opportunities and a significant threat with its rapidly growing economy and increasingly rising political profile in the global arena. China’s military expenditures and population are important indicators that cannot be ignored in terms of international politics in the global power struggle towards 2050. In parallel with its economic performance, its pro-active attitude in Africa and South America outside the Asia-Pacific geography has made China a key country not only on a regional scale but also in global politics. China, which isolated itself throughout the Cold War period, began to grow economically with the foreign opening policy implemented in 1978 under the leadership of Deng Xiaoping. One aspect of China’s rise is the impact of these economic connections on China’s political relations with its neighbors. Peaceful relations have increased, especially due to its extensive economic ties with its Western and Asian neighbors. Therefore, the increase in economic interdependence between China and its neighbors is associated with the improvement of political relations. This study examines China’s diplomacy and geopolitical tensions, economic fluctuations, military and political processes and commercial relations intensifying in neighboring countries, and is expected to make significant contributions to science and researchers. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Shilpa Deo and Fatma Feyza Gündüz; individual chapters, the contributors.Öğe Concluding Remarks(Taylor and Francis, 2024) Gündüz, Fatma Feyza; Deo, ShilpaThe COVID-19 1, 2 pandemic has shattered the world economies. The challenges posed by the pandemic and the impact of new waves have dragged all economic instruments and investors into an uncertain territory. It has resulted in several repercussions like decreasing growth rates, falling demand, supply-chain disruptions and accompanying income inequalities. Despite the time that has passed since the spread of the pandemic, its socio-economic, political, and psychological effects continue to persist, albeit to a lesser extent. Although it is not known when the economies will be able to come out of the post-COVID challenges, there is no doubt that they will be talked about for many years to come. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Shilpa Deo and Fatma Feyza Gündüz; individual chapters, the contributors.Öğe DETERMINATION OF THE FACTORS AFFECTING COTTON EXPORT OF TURKEY: A PANEL GRAVITY MODEL APPROACH(2020) Gündüz, Fatma Feyza; Akay, Özlem; Gündüz, Selim; Dölekoğlu, CelileTurkey has the ecological characteristics adequate to cotton farming and thus it plays an important role in production and trade worldwide. Determining the significant factors affecting the trade of cotton, which is an important product both for exports and imports and revealing whether these factors differentiate by national and global dynamics or not is considerably important. In this study, the factors affecting cotton export of Turkey between the years of 2002 and 2017 are analysed by using gravity model and panel data method. It is determined that Turkey's cotton export has a positive relationship with gross domestic product, gross domestic product per capita values, population and EU membership of the countries to which Turkey exports cotton and a negative relationship with Linder variable. On the other hand, the variable of border neighborhood does not have a statistically significant effect on Turkey's cotton export either since the share of these countries in total cotton exports is quite low compared to EU member countries. In conclusion, factors that may increase the competitive advantage in potential markets should be taken into consideration in terms of new market opportunities as the distance of trading countries does not have any effect. Particularly, policies of USA and China which are effective in world's market are important variables for Turkey as they are for other countries. Therefore, the policies of these countries should be carefully monitored when making any regulation.Öğe Determining The E-Commerce Perception Of Women's Cooperatives(2022) Gündüz, Fatma FeyzaWith the developments in the digital world, commercial activities have moved to different dimensions and platforms. E-commerce is a type of trade in which the trade that emerges as a result of these developments is carried out through online platforms. Women's cooperatives, where entrepreneurial activities are carried out most effectively, are also taking steps to use e-commerce by getting rid of traditional methods. This study aims to determine the e-commerce perception of women's cooperatives in Turkey. The universe of the study consists of 726 women's cooperatives. The data obtained as a result of the interviews with 421 women's cooperative representatives who participated in the survey were analyzed. In the research, SPSS 27.0 (Statistical Package for The Social Science) and Eviews 10 program were used. In the results of the study, according to the answers given by the representatives of women's cooperatives, it was seen that the increase in the number of employees and annual turnover positively affected the e-commerce, while the increase in the average age negatively affected. It has been concluded that the increase in the number of employees of women's cooperatives, the annual turnover and the level of education of the employees have a positive effect on the perception of e-commerce as the trade model of the future and the increase in the perception that e-commerce will reduce costs. The increase in the idea of strengthening the corporate image is influenced by the increase in the number of personnel, annual turnover and the education level of the employees. When the effect of potential obstacles is examined, the problem of trust, legal infrastructure and lack of information and personnel are the factors that hinder doing e-commerce.Öğe Economic impacts and management of the COVID-19 global crisis: A study of the tourism industry(IGI Global, 2022) Gündüz, Fatma Feyza; Akgül, GüneşThe tourism industry has been one of the fastest growing sectors of the world economy since the second half of the 20th century. Four years after the pandemic, economies are still struggling to achieve sustainable economic growth and development. While much has been written about the impact of COVID-19 on various sectors and economies, this is the first book to underscore the post-COVID global uncertainties that are still occurring on the world stage and further, to present the recent challenges such as geo-political tensions, war, economic disturbances, climate change, the energy crisis in Europe, recession in developed economies and its effect on developing and least developed economies. The book starts by setting the grounds for further discussion of the present challenges as well as future implications. In addition to examining the immediate issues which occurred with the onset of the pandemic, it explores these from the perspective of developed, developing, and least developed countries. The wide-ranging topics covered by the book include the ongoing Russia-Ukraine War, China’s increasing economic dominance in neighbouring countries, the economic collapse of Sri Lanka and Pakistan, the factors that led to the technology layoffs and the future of global employees and economies. The book goes beyond looking at sector-specific factors and broadly outlines country-specific instabilities, policy choices and the way forward. The book will be of interest to students of macroeconomics, development and international economics, and international relations as well as researchers and policymakers. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Shilpa Deo and Fatma Feyza Gündüz; individual chapters, the contributors.Öğe Evaluation of the Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Friendship Quality in Terms of Different Variables(2019) Gündüz, Fatma FeyzaIt is a known fact that the individuals, whose social and emotional aspects are developed, are more productive in their working lives. Emotional intelligence levels of individuals also reflect in their bilateral relations. Hence, it is expected that there will be a meaningful relationship between emotional intelligence levels with reliable and high-quality friendships. In this study, the effects of emotional intelligence levels of university students on the quality of friendship were analyzed. The sample consists of 538 students (242 female and 296 male) studying at Adana Science and Technology University and Çukurova University. A face to face questionnaire, which was prepared to determine to what extend the friendship quality of students was affected by emotional intelligence levels, was applied. The questionnaire includes emotional intelligence scale (EQ-NED) and friendship quality scale (FQUA) questions in addition to the questions created for determining demographic characteristics. Reliability analyses of the scales used in the study were performed and Cronbach’s alpha value of EQ-NED scale was found as 0.791 while Cronbach’s alpha value of FQUA scale was found as 0.890. As a result of the correlation analysis, it was concluded that there was a statistically significant relationship between the emotional intelligence levels and friendship quality of the university students. According to the genders of the students participating in the study it was observed that the emotional intelligence level of the female students was higher compared to the male students. It was determined that the emotional intelligence levels of the students did not differ according to the age variable and there was a significant difference between the emotional intelligence of the “health sciences” students and “science” and “social sciences” students according to the fields of education.Öğe Investigation of the Effects of Electromagnetic Radiation on Health and Psychological Complaints(2020) Gündüz, Selim; Gündüz, Fatma FeyzaIn the period referred to as the digital era, technological products dominate almost all facets of human life. Whiletechnology facilitates human life on one hand, it threatens health with electromagnetic radiation on the other. This study investigate the effects of electromagnetic radiation on health complaints and psychological anxietyand, accordingly, shopping malls were selected as areas of application because the electromagnetic radiation ishigh at such venues. In this study, the health and psychological complaints of employees working at shoppingmalls where the electromagnetic radiation is considered to be relatively high and of employees working insimilar sectors outside of shopping malls were measured and comparatively analysed. The study sample iscomposed of 347 employees in total, 174 of whom are employed at shopping malls in Adana province, and 173employed in stores located outside of shopping malls. It is seen that there is no statistically significant differencebetween the employees working inside and outside of the shopping malls in terms of health complaints (?? =.945 > .050) and psychological complaints (?? = .122 > .050). But the scale points related to the healthcomplaints of those working at shopping malls is slightly higher. The models set up in relation to the effect ofthe number of years worked by employees working at shopping malls on \"psychological complaints\" and \"healthcomplaints\" were found statistically significant (?? = 8.234; ?? = 4.174; ?? < .05). It is important to makemeasurements in shopping malls and to increase the practices to prevent personnel from having health andpsychological problems.Öğe Saklı Markov Modeli İle E-Ticaret İşletmelerinin Tercih Edilme Nedenlerinin Belirlenmesi(2022) Gündüz, Fatma Feyza; Kocabaşa, HavvaHer geçen gün gelişen ve değişen bir kavram olan e-ticaret, Covid-19 salgını ile birlikte tüm dünyanın ortak paydası haline gelmiştir. İki kategoride de Trendyol e-ticaret sitesinin ‘Daha güvenli alışveriş imkanı (D_1)’ nedeniyle tüketiciler tarafından tercih edileceği belirlenmiştirÖğe THE FACTORS AFFECTING TEXTILE PRODUCTION AMOUNTS OF LEADING COUNTRIES IN TEXTILE EXPORT: DYNAMIC PANEL DATA ANALYSIS(2020) Akay, Özlem; Gündüz, Selim; Gündüz, Fatma FeyzaIt is known that the textile industry, which is one of the most influential areas in the development of many countries in the world, played a very important role in the Industrial Revolution. The textile industry in Turkey, which continues its development depending on cotton farming, has gained momentum in terms of development in recent years. In this study, in which the annual data for the 2003-2013 period were used, the factors affecting the textile production amounts of the leading countries in textile export were examined. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the econometric model constituted a dynamic structure, and the estimation results were obtained by using the GMM-System estimation technique. According to the results obtained, there is a significant correlation of textile production amount with lagged value and population variables at a 1% level, with Gross Domestic Product and cotton production at a 5% level, and with the inflation rate at a 10% level. population variable, which is the control variable in the model, is positive and per theoretical expectations, population increase boosts the amount of textile production. An increase of 1% in the Gross Domestic Product causes a decrease of 0.06% in textile production. The amount of cotton production positively affects textile production and a 10% increase in cotton production leads to a 0.2% increase in textile production. The coefficient of the inflation rate was determined as -0.009 and it was negative. As expected in theory, increases in inflation rate adversely affect growth. Keywords: Textile Export, Textile Production, Dynamic Panel Data AnalysisÖğe Türkiye’nin Sağlık Turizmi Talebini Etkileyen Faktörlerin Analizi: Çekim Modeli Yaklaşımı(2019) Gündüz, Fatma Feyza; Gündüz, Selim; Yavuz, Hasan BilgehanBu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’ ye yönelik sağlık turizmi akımını etkileyen faktörleri çekim modeli ile açıklamaktır.
