Kozan Kıbrıslar Köyü Cami: Kırsal Alanda Kiliseden Camiye Dönüştürülmüş Bir Yapının Mimari Analizi

Abstract

The Mosque of Kıbrıslar Village stands as a research worthy example that is assessed in the scope of a scientific project investigating religious building transformations -mainly appropriated churches- within the borders of Adana province. The preliminary literature survey reveals that the mosque has not been subject to any scientific study to date, and that it accommodates traces of several historical periods, which may shed light on the archaeology of Cilicia region. The sole document about the mosque is the inventory form prepared when it was registered as a second degree monumental building by the decision of the Regional Board of the Preservation of Cultural Assets of Adana dated 23.08.2012 and numbered 1226. The study comprise of the documentation of current situation of the building through measured drawings, its architectural analysis, assessment of functional and structural changes throughout its timeline by investigating the physical, geographical and historical characteristics of the region and examining the structures showing similar architectural features in the region. The study concludes with the suggestions for the conservation of the building.

Adana il sınırları içerisinde kiliseden camiye dönüştürülmüş yapıların araştırıldığı bilimsel proje kapsamında değerlendirilen Kıbrıslar Köyü Cami, bugüne dek herhangi bir çalışmaya konu edilmemiş olması ve Kilikya bölgesi arkeolojisi için önemli izler barındırdığı izlenimiyle bu çalışmada ele alınmıştır. Mülkiyeti Kıbrıslar Köyü tüzel kişiliğine ait olan yapı, parseli içerisinde yer alan çeşme ve mezarlıkla birlikte, Adana Kültür Varlıklarını Koruma Bölge Kurulu’nun 23.08.2012 gün ve 1226 sayılı kararıyla 2. derece anıtsal yapı olarak tescil edilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında, saha çalışması sonucunda elde edilen veriler ışığında yapının mevcut durumu belgelenmiş, mimari analizi yapılmış ve tarihsel süreç içinde geçirmiş olduğu işlevsel ve yapısal değişiklikler irdelenmiştir. Bölgenin fiziksel, coğrafi ve tarihsel özellikleri araştırılarak ve bölgedeki benzer mimari özellikler gösteren yapılar incelenerek, mevcut yapının mimari özellikleri analiz edilmiş, değerlendirmesi yapılmış ve dönemsel farklılıklar ortaya çıkarılmıştır, ayrıca korunmasıyla ilgili de öneriler sunulmuştur.
